This all began when we cooked for our farmhouse guests and discovered two things: if they were familiar with the flavors of Central Europe, they immediately recognized them in our meals. And if they were not, they immediately fell in love with them.
Liptauer was always on our table, and – on occasion – constituted a full meal when paired with freshly baked rye bread and a bottle of wine.
Haus Vinaigrette is literally our house dressing, used on every salad straight from our garden as well as a marinade or finishing sauce.
Gewürz sprung from our love of Curry Würst, which we elevated from mere street food to an awesome grilled meal by creating our own Gewürz using a spice recipe we found in Jaipur, India.
Vincotto we discovered while tasting wine in Stresa, in Italy’s Piedmont, where it was drizzled on freshly sliced Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese. We serve it that way here, too.
And so, we bottled the essence of these experiences and offered them at nearby farmers’ markets, as well as at our farm. Soon, we had them in local gourmet stores, butcher shops and wine stores. And now, we offer it to you here at MountSalemKitchen.com.
Under the careful eye of our CCO (Chief Cooking Officer), we produce all of our products as if we are serving them to family and friends. As Agnes says, “You can always taste love in a good meal.” That pretty much sums it up.
