We’re Open for Outdoor Tastings! Here’s What To Know Before You Go
Here at Mount Salem Kitchen, we’re known for our traditional Central European hospitality as well as our traditional Central European food and wine – which is why it’s been strange to see our farm empty of its usual crowds from visitors to take part in our tastings and cooking classes.
Finally, though, we’re thrilled to open our doors once again as New Jersey wineries have been permitted to welcome guests back for outdoor tastings and wine sales which will be available here at Mount Salem Kitchen Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
What to expect
In the meadow, just a few paces from our Wine Barn, you can stop by and enjoy our limited picnic table seating beneath a tent. Here, you can indulge in wine served by the glass or bottle – sorry, no splashes at this time, unless by appointment. In the event of thunder or lightning, we ask that you take shelter in your car.
Worried about not snagging a picnic table? Feel free to bring your own folding chairs or blankets for your very own Mount Salem Kitchen picnic. Additional, limited standing-room-only space will also be available, but we do ask that you limit your group to less than 10 people, and entry may be limited if we are above capacity.
If you have a group of 4-6 people, you can also give us a call at 908-735-9359 and make a reservation for one of the picnic tables. Private wine tastings for groups of 6-10 people, which will take place outdoors under a tent on our Crush Pad, are also available by reservation.
How we plan to keep you safe
As we navigate this new post-pandemic world, we are extremely cognizant of your safety. That’s why all of our glassware is sanitized with detergent and hot water – it always has been – and you can also choose to purchase a $6 brand new glass from us. Dishwasher-safe, this restaurant-quality glassware is designed for long-term use without using its elegance and if you find yourself visiting often enough, you’ll soon acquire a set of fine, everyday stemware below the retail price!
A sink with soap and running water for hand washing will also be available in the meadow, as well as hand sanitizer upon request. Although we will not require you to sign a liability waiver, as has been recommend, we do wish to remind you to visit at your own risk and stay safe as we offer you the familiar Mount Salem Kitchen experience with all precautions in place.
Come and visit us at 54 Mt Salem Rd., Pittstown on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
