Who We Are
Who are we? There are several layers – as in peeling an onion – to answer that question.
We are farmers.
We are winemakers.
We are serious cooks.
We are food entrepreneurs.
We are Central Europeans, by heritage or birth.
As farmers, our main crop is wine grape varieties originally from – you guessed it – Central Europe. We also grow vegetables and herbs, and we’re grateful for neighbors who raise fruits, vegetables, grains and livestock to fill our larders. Most of our farming is by hand, and Mother Nature humbles us every year.
As winemakers, we produce small quantities for a devoted yet exacting customer base. We consider our philosophy neoclassical, with the goal of making the finest wine possible with little or no intervention or manipulation.
As cooks, we are serious because after all that hard winegrowing work, one must eat well. We also cook for our customers, so that they can experience our wines the way we do: completely. This included those family recipes which prompted us to take the next step.
As food entrepreneurs, after hearing repeatedly that our wine was great but “that Liptauer cheese is awesome,” we decided to bottle it and sell it at farmers’ markets and later gourmet and specialty food stores. We later added Haus Vinaigrette, Gewürz Sauce, and Vincotto. And now, we are taking the next step into the online world.
Finally, as Central Europeans (by heritage or birth), we draw from our roots for our work ethic and values, while emphasizing our ancestors’ contribution to the Great American Melting Pot.
This is who we are. We look forward to getting better acquainted with you.
